The county's MDJ page notes office hours of 9 a.m. to noon and 1 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. for the three district courts. The northern office's move to the Public Safety Center in New Milford matters for drivers because the court location may not be the main Montrose courthouse.

Note: PAePay is a payment system. UJS dockets and the assigned MDJ court remain the better source for court-case status.
Pay or Contest a Ticket
PAePay can be used only for obligations approved for online payment. The Pennsylvania payment site states that traffic-citation payments through the online process require a guilty plea. It also states that the maximum payment amount for fines, costs, and restitution is $2,500 per transaction. Payment plans cannot be created or managed through UJS Portal, so the court where the case is filed must handle those questions.
- Use PAePay only if the driver plans to pay an eligible obligation online.
- Read the plea language before paying a traffic citation, because online payment may enter a guilty plea.
- Call the assigned MDJ office to plead not guilty, ask for a hearing, request a continuance, or address a payment plan.
- Use UJS Case Search after payment or hearing activity to confirm the docket reflects the latest court action.
The PennDOT driver record service page is separate from PAePay, but it may matter after a traffic conviction posts to a state driver history.
Use PennDOT when the question is license history, not whether the MDJ court has scheduled or disposed of the citation.
Court Record vs Driver Record
The court traffic record and the PennDOT driver record are two different files. The court record is created by a Pennsylvania court. It focuses on the citation, docket, plea, disposition, and financial obligations. The PennDOT driver record is maintained by the Bureau of Driver Licensing and shows license status and driver-history information received from police and courts.

If the court docket looks correct but the driver history looks wrong, the fix may involve PennDOT rather than the MDJ clerk.
Traffic Cases With Extra Risk
